Last Year I had a Premonition...
Late summer 2019, a visitor appeared with a powerful message. While relaxing by the pool, my daughter discovered this little... no... HUGE insect.
Two inches long with greenish hued wings, this little dude just sat there, very chill and feeling so benign and... sweet!!
Like he was saying, “Hello.”
I hear "how you 'doin" lol!
At first, I tried shooing him away. But nothing I did would make him budge.
None of us had ever seen anything like him before, and to be honest, I'm normally afraid of insects but this guy was different...
As I stopped trying to make him leave, I felt his soothing presence. It was amazing. He was sending me... love.
Waves and waves of love.
It emanated from his small body!
He felt ancient, prehistoric…
I reached out to an amazing #EarthTender Group that I am part of created by Amy Dempster @followinghawks on Instagram and was provided a few links of information.
As it turned out, I was hosting a cicada on my deck. But what struck me most in the description of the symbolism of this insect was this:
"The insect's amazing lifestyle has been a source of fascination since ancient times. Several cultures, such as the ancient Chinese, regarded these insects as powerful symbols of rebirth." -National Geographic
That whole weekend I felt in the grip of a surreal energy. The next day as we walked on the beach, my daughter excitedly pointed to a water logged cicada mingled in with the seaweed.
Two sightings in two days after never having seen one before...ever.
We helped him up on a stick to dry out in the sun.
Then Came Hurricane Dorian
It felt like a huge purge of Mother nature mirroring the inner world of rebirth that had been building for months on end.
The aftermath of Hurricane Dorian felt chaotic. But not just for me. It felt collective, like a swarm of CICADAS had descended on us all.
I can't imagine what it would be like to actually see a wave of cicadas in the sky! It reminds me of biblical stories of locusts but in retrospect, I believe this cicada had an even bigger message for us all...
Like a prophetic symbol, he was reassuring me with deep earth wisdom that despite what was to come… or unbecome… the burning down is sometimes what is needed to clear the way for something new.
Allowing us to regenerate and create a new body, a new spirituality and a new collective energy…
Looking back, this feels so surreal and laden with meaning.
And I recognize that same feeling now... the rebirth is upon us once again. Only this time, in an even wider collective wave.
